There are over 100 Different Types of Yoga to Choose from – I Want You to Know the Hatha Yoga Poses and Yoga Types that are Best for Back Pain.

Confused about the various types of yoga out there, so am I. The foundation began thousands of years ago and since then all yoga types have been initially based on the mother of all styles – Hatha Yoga Poses. Hatha literally means to “work the body”. All yoga types “work” the muscles of the body, stimulate breath flow, and still the mind. Today there are a few styles which have become very popular in the mainstream. These different types of yoga include: Hatha Yoga poses, Hot yoga, Viniyasa, Bikram, Kundalini, Core Power Yoga, Iyengar, Ashtanga, etc. I will discuss the differences between these styles further in this section.

The best way to start is to do the beginner poses first. You are best off learning the basic fundamentals, and understanding and developing proper body alignment prior to pursuing any particular style. If you have a bad back, I suggest you check out the basic highlights of the particular style, like core power yoga, before you decide to pursue that practice. You must be aware that some may actually aggravate your back pain, while others will be of benefit, and will actually alleviate your back pain.
