Yoga Stretching

Not all Yoga Stretching Classes Help Back Pain. Back-pain-guru.com has 3 Modified Stretches Designed Just to Help your Back.

Over the years I have found that certain yoga stretching programs can actually damage and aggravate back pain. Not all postures or asanas are safe for a bad back. If you have had a sudden or an acute sharp back pain injury, this is not the best time to start a stretching yoga routine. Let the back heal and start with the yoga for beginners poses. On the other hand, if you do not have a bad back, I am going to show you 3 modified stretches or asanas designed just to help the muscles of your back in a safe and controlled manner. These are not extreme postures, but have been modified for beginners.

To get the best effect from the different asanas or poses, please hold and reach the position for at least 1 minute to get the best benefit. Make sure you are not experiencing sharp pain during this practice. There will be a lengthening sensation that will instill some pain, this is normal, and should subside as the stretch of the muscle begins to release the tightness in the muscle. Try to practice these back stretch yoga postures twice a day. It is better to do fewer postures and hold them for a longer amount of time, than doing more postures for a short amount of time.

Click on the video tutorial and see how these 3 modified yoga stretching positions can align and lengthen the muscles of your spine to heal your back pain.

1. Half fold using a chair

2. Lying against the wall with legs in air

3. Seated child using a chair

We at back-pain-guru.com want you to enjoy and know that proper practice of this yoga benefits the back. I recommend that you continue adding yoga stretches slowly into your exercise routine. Be patient and persistent in releasing the tight muscles of your back. It can sometimes take months before the back becomes fully flexible again, there is no rush, it will teach you to slow down.
